This Art {Companion Guide}was born from the desire to give teachers an opportunity to teach museum protocols to their students before going into an art museum. I have also included virtual museum visits as an opportunity for practice or to use as a virtual experience if getting to an art museum is not an option for your class or school. I have included several interactive and reflective activities to help your students get more out of a museum field trip than just looking at "old things".
Visiting a museum is a powerful way to deepen the connection between art activities, and art appreciation lessons from the classroom, to the real-life experience of looking at art. I highly recommend this as part of your art teaching practices.
