My goal is to encourage your student to learn as an apprentice, practicing, appreciating, and creating art through the lens of the great Masters: Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, Da Vinci, and Michelangelo to name a few. These artists have impacted history, given us beauty to admire, and shaped our often broken and beautiful world with their imaginations and masterpieces.
I use a Classical Education model and philosophy utilizing masterful works of art as inspiration. My classes work beautifully in tandem with schooling that is done in a four-year learning cycle, for home education, or in a Classical co-op setting but is also available for a la carte learning where you can purchase what you are interested in. The Atelier Classes are for anyone interested in art and art history.
I am a woman with a passion to see all of life through a lens of faith, hope, truth, and love. I am currently a teacher at Life Christian Academy, a Christian School in the South Puget Sound Region of Washington. I have been teaching in this philosophy and model for over 15 yrs., first to my own children and then in private education.
I am an urban dweller who longs for a country mile and to meander in the forest. I own too many books. I never tire of a wee baby or the smell of the salty sea air. I feel the greatest sense of peace, with sand beneath my feet and the roar of the sea in the hearing of my heart. My husband’s ability to make me laugh or know all the lyrics to a song astounded me. I believe in hard work and practice, and that success comes in many forms. I drink way too much coffee and have far too many paintbrushes. I never, ever, tire of seeing a learning connection made on a child’s face.
I try to be grateful every day and I long to make authentic meaningful connections with those around me. But most importantly, I believe in a wondrous Creator who, with intention made each of us creative by giving us an imagination! It is our job to show up and use it to point others to him. This is my humble attempt at doing so.
I look forward to taking this creative journey with you.
With Paint in my Hair and Jesus in My Heart,
