I Just Got a Nature Book
A book arrived in the mail that I have been longing to see. Finally, it has arrived and I couldn’t be more thrilled it is an oldy-but-a-goody! Natural Science Through the Seasons! by JA Partridge was published in 1946. It has wonderful pen and ink illustrations throughout by Don Farwell. Both gentlemen are educators in Canada. Partridge is a principal and Farwell and art teacher(no wonder I love this book so much.)
This book is broken into units that can be taught to several age groups at a time, a perfect homeschooling nature study book and it breaks up the areas of study by season.
But what made me want this book was the wonderful calendar that gives day-to-day activities. Everything from documenting what the birds are doing to finding constellations in the night sky to learning the name of a new flower.
I would keep my eye out for this treasure if you are looking to add to your home library! “Oh Nature! One should never be without her!”
