Art on Vacation
Hi there, I just got back from a well deserved and wonderful family vacation. We celebrated our youngest graduating from high school(way to go Josiah!) I wanted to mark this time in our family because now all of us are in different spots and I felt it important to be intentional about spending time together as it will be harder from now on. This was also a vacation with lots of naps and rest by the lake listening to the clamor and chorus of nature in the mornings. Eating too many delicious foods, thanks to Gina and Matthew. Playing endless games of Nertz-our favorite family card game, swimming and nature walks through the forest and down to the beach all in the same walk-these are my favorite. Late night talks of the future and plans and dreams. Thanks Tyler and Matthew for joining us too!
I also got to do some painting, one of my favorite things. I did a botanical painting of the lakeside irises that grow wild around the edges of the water, with their bright yellow faces coaxing butterflies and dragonflies to land and feed. It felt good to paint again, the familiar calm and inner sanctum that comes with this lovely pastime always reminds me that I need to do it more often. I am so grateful we got to spend some time doing things we love with the people we love. Merry Christmas- happy surprise vacation!
