Host a Student Art Exhibit

Visual art should be looked at, right? One way to honor your art student is to host a Student Art exhibit. Bring friends and family even your neighbors together for an art show. Here are 3 things to remember to make your art show a success.

Involve your student

An exhibit is to showcase their talent. Have them choose work from the year that they are especially proud of. Also include pieces where they felt stretched or grew in a particular area or medium. These pieces give the student opportunities to share the process and the artist's inner thoughts, as well as, give variety to the exhibit and showcase a wide variety of skills.

Create a takeaway for your guests

Art exhibits usually have some sort of bio postcard for your visitors with a featured piece of artwork. This is a way to share your budding artist’s inspiration/theme of the art exhibit. It allows them to share more about who they are as an artist or what their hopes and dreams for the future as an artist are. Use one of the art pieces that your student is particularly proud of, get a good photograph of it and take it to a local print shop or design one online. Use a design app like Canva.com to design it and Canva will even print and ship them for a fee.

Practice Public Speaking Skills

Take a short break during the exhibit and have your student thank their guests for coming and give a brief description of the work in their exhibit. Invite the guests to enjoy refreshments too. The guests will love these extra details. Make sure your student mingles, shares, and answers questions about their work.

Following these steps will provide your art student with lots of constructive feedback and build confidence in their art.
