A Floral Mural in my Kitchen? Check Out the Results!

Well, I decided I needed a project this summer and so I painted a floral mural in my kitchen. I have a galley kitchen( long and narrow in the center of the house). It has been many colors over the years but at present, it is a restful grey with white, dark charcoal, patina green, and copper accents.

I was inspired to do a mural by a couple of gals in the online art world that I follow Jeanne Oliver and Katrina Crouch of Blushed Designs (scroll each site and you should see a backdrop wall with a floral design, stunning right?!) I decided to start with a large floral design cascading down from the ceiling. The design would consist of old-fashioned roses with curly twigs, lush leaves, and a bumble buzzing around. This was my vision anyway and could change. Sometimes, I am a bit too ambitious in the design stage and this can get me into trouble or I just lose steam. However….

OH please ignore the messy countertops and poor lighting , this is where I plan to paint.

not this time. TA-DA here she is! This is the finished mural below. I really like how it turned out with its less-than-perfect painterly lines. It has brought nature indoors and flowers are something I really love.

I know the pictures are not the best it was a buggar to try and get the lighting right

You can see a rough short video of my efforts on my Instagram page if you are curious about my process.
