A Little Monet

Monet, Water Lilies, 1899

Monet in his studio with Water Lillie paintings

Today, I got into the studio and did some creating with a couple of dear friends. It was so great to chat and create, laugh and learn with Shauna and Cindy. It was also a good reminder to me of how much joy and sweet peace I get from the creative process. The above is the original painting by Claude Monet and Monet in his studio with his giant canvas paintings of water lilies. I have been doing some research and working on the beginning of my second on line art class in the Apprentice Atelier Series. As you can probably guess, I had Monet on my mind and thought we might do something with his masterpiece.

From left to right: Shauna’s, Cindy’s, and mine.

I had painted my own version of this painting a few years ago and so today, we used it as inspirations to play, using a different medium: wool roving and felt. We needle felted this masterpiece. Below you can see how wonderfully different they are. I just love how we can be working from the same inspiration and yet, each is unique and designed very differently.
